ONCOLOGY AND HEMATOLOGY

Oncology Department

Engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors that can occur in various tissues of the human body.

Hematology Department

The field of activity of the doctors in this department covers prevention, clarification of diagnosis and treatment of patients with blood disease and cancer.

In cooperation with private specialists, Prof. Dr. Dr. Zalat and Prof. Dr. Dr. Zalat. Zalat and Dr. Stotzer, the Red Cross Clinic studies malignant hematological (e.g. leukemia, malignant lymphoma) and oncological diseases (e.g. breast cancer, gastrointestinal tumors, sarcoma). Thanks to this cooperation, patients have the opportunity to be treated in national and international trials with state-of-the-art treatment programs.

Additionally

In cooperation with the Grosshadern Clinic, certain cancers are treated with neoplasm hyperthermia. Hyperthermia of neoplasms is a targeted overheating of the tumor. It is often effective in combination with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Once a patient has been diagnosed with cancer and its severity has been determined, the specialists in the department prescribe the appropriate treatment, e.g. surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy. The different areas of research at the Red Cross Clinic cooperate in this process.

Moreover, interdisciplinary cooperation extends to necessary procedures such as:

  • Blood transfusion
  • Puncture for fluid accumulation in the lung or abdominal cavity
  • Guide catheter for administration of chemotherapy or nutrient solution
  • A feeding tube through the abdominal wall straight into the stomach.

The interdisciplinary collaboration also provides care for patients with gynecologic oncologic diseases.

If patients have breast or cervical cancer, their treatment is effective in cooperation with the gynecology department at Taksistrasse. There, before the planned operation, they are checked for operability and given the necessary preparation and medication correction.

If you already have an appointment at a Red Cross clinic and only need a medical interpreter in Munich, we are happy to offer a professional medical interpreter.
