Prof. Christoph Holberg has many years of experience as a dentist, orthodontist, specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery and senior consultant at the University of Munich. Prof. Holberg works with complex cases, with pathologies such as harelip and severe jaw disorders. In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Holberg’s research activities benefit his patients. Dr. Holberg treats adults as well as children and adolescents, which has made him a highly sought-after specialist in Germany and other countries.

Dr. Holberg strives to provide an individualized approach for each patient, taking a holistic approach that in many cases goes beyond orthodontics. Dr. Christoph Holberg began his medical career in 1986 after graduating from high school and receiving the Bavarian University Scholarship for especially gifted students. He received his basic medical education at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. In 1993, Holberg passed the state exam and entered his residency program in dentistry. After four years of hard and challenging work, Dr. Christoph Holberg received his dental certificate and license to practice medicine. During his studies and work, Christoph Holberg analyzed a large amount of material and published scientific papers. All of this formed the basis for his dissertation on the early and late results of intra-atrial switching surgery (venous and arterial blood flow) performed at the German Heart Center in Munich.

After his training in dentistry, Dr. Christoph Holberg conducted a study on the mapping of facial surfaces by triangulation. Holberg defended his dissertation based on the results of his research. Dr. Christoph Holberg completed further training as a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery from 1998 to 2002 at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Munich under the supervision of Professor Michael Ehrenfeld, MD. After the internship, Christoph Holberg passed the examination and was admitted as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Holberg subsequently started working as an orthodontic specialist in 2005 at the Clinic for Orthodontics at the University of Munich. Since 2002, he has worked as a senior doctor at the Department of Orthodontics. His extensive experience and continuous training enabled Christoph Holberg to take up the position of Deputy Director of the Clinic of the University of Munich in 2006. In 2007, he obtained the title of lecturer and was appointed as a privatized associate professor. In addition, he has been accepted as a privatized assistant professor at many universities in Europe:

In 2014, Christoph Holberg was appointed professor at the University of Munich. For his scientific work, Holberg has received several awards for the best article from CADFEM, research paper: the Arnold-Bieber Prize, the AG Keramik Prize. The Arnold-Bieber Prize is awarded annually by the German Society for Orthodontics (DGKFO) and is the most important scientific award in the field of orthodontics in the German-speaking world. The Scientific Award of the Association for Ceramics in Dentistry (AG Keramik) is awarded annually for the three best publications in the field of ceramic materials research. In addition, Prof. Holberg received the special prize of the President of the German Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (DGPW), this poster award given each year at the annual scientific meeting of the Society.
