Biography

One of the most famous cardiologists in Germany is considered to be Gerhard Steinbeck. He is the one who deals with the issues of:

  • of heart rhythm disturbances,
  • implantation of cardioverter-defibrillators and other pacemakers.

Prof. Gerhard Steinbeck began his clinical and scientific career in Berlin. He studied human medicine for the next five years in Hamburg, Göttingen. In 1972, Dr. Steinbeck completed his studies and passed the state examinations, which allowed him to start working at the clinic as a physician assistant. In 1973, he was recruited to the University of Göttingen as a research assistant. After gaining the necessary knowledge and experience, Prof. Gerhard Steinbeck moved to the Großhadern Clinic. In 1981, Dr. Steinbeck was trained and certified to work as an internist and cardiologist. In 1981, he received additional training in Munich at the Ludwig-Maximilian University. In 1983, he was appointed as a senior department physician at the Großhadern Clinic. After working for three years, Gerhard Steinbeck was promoted to the rank of professor.

Since 1994, Prof. Steinbeck became Chairman and Director of the Medical Clinic I of the University of Munich. In addition, he was appointed C4-Professor, the highest professorial rank, at the Faculty of Clinical Medicine at the Mangeme University of Heidelberg and C4-Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Berlin.

1998

Became a reviewer and examiner for the Bavarian State Medical Association.

2001

Served on a panel for quality assurance of inpatient cardiac care.

2005

He has received additional training in intensive care.

2012

He completed his service as director of the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I of the University Hospital of Munich.

2012

He works at the cardiology center at the Starnberg Clinic.
