Biography

Dr. Florian Krotz is a highly qualified specialist in invasive cardiology. His main focus of scientific and clinical activity is the treatment of patients with various heart diseases resulting in rhythm and conduction disorders.

In 2014, under his leadership, a catheter laboratory was opened, which uses invasive interventions for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. In addition, 3D mapping is performed in the laboratory, which allows to see the smallest heart abnormalities.

Dr. Krotz has devoted much attention to the diagnosis and treatment of chest pain. This wealth of experience led to the opening of the Breast Pain Department at the Starnberg Clinic in 2014.

Dr. Florian has treated and diagnosed a large number of patients and has also trained generations of residents and students. With all this in mind, he was awarded the title of professor in 2013.

Since 2012, the professor has been a member of the European Association for Percutaneous Interventional Interventions (EAPCI). In addition to cardiology, the professor has made a major contribution to the development of diabetology.

Today, Prof. Krotz is Chief Physician of the Department of Invasive Cardiology at Klinikum Starnberg and a member of the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr. Florian began his career in 1991 with civilian service in Heilbronn as a member of the rescue squad. After his military service, Dr. Florian worked for a long time as a paramedic, combining work and studies. From 1993 Florian trained at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and in 1995 he moved to the Technical University of Munich. During his training period he gained extensive clinical experience through clinical internships in anesthesiology, internal medicine and surgery in clinics in Germany and the USA. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Krotz defended his thesis at the German Heart Center. After that, he analyzed a huge amount of clinical and scientific material over the next year. This allowed him to be approved and defend his doctoral thesis on the topic: the significance of the platelet PIA1/A2 polymorphism for the occurrence of stent stenosis. After the defense, Dr. Krotz continued his work as a clinical researcher at the University of Munich. Thereafter, he worked as a senior physician in the Department of Cardiology and Catheter Laboratory of the Ludwig-Maximilians University Hospital for several years. He was then appointed head of the Department of Chest Pain and Emergency Medicine. Already in 2010, he established a special outpatient service for cardiovascular coagulation in cooperation with the Department of Hemostaseology (Prof. Spannagl).

Prof. Florian Krotz has led and participated in many clinical trials, including the Alecardio Study, FAME II, APPOSITION III and others. Based on the results of such studies, he has published scientific papers in various international journals.

In addition to clinical and research activities, Dr. Krotz focuses on students and residents through seminars and lectures.

He is a member of the cardiology and therapeutic communities. In addition, he is involved in editorial activities, analyzing articles and reviews in various scientific journals.
