He has been the medical director at Academic Clinic since 2001 Ludwig-Maximillian University «Martha-Maria». He holds senior positions in the departments of general, visceral and thoracic surgery.
About thirty thousand patients with pathology of endocrine organs were operated on under his supervision. Several hundred adrenalectomies were performed.
Patients who were operated on by the professor gained a chance of recovery and persistent remission.

He holds the Nepomuk von Nusbaum Award for research and the Ferdinand Sauerbruch Award.

He is co-editor of the textbook Endocrine Tumors.
