Back pain

There can be many reasons for this back pain. The most common ones are muscle strain, osteoarthritis or spondylosis, herniated disc, curvature of the spine, osteoporosis, pregnancy and many more. All of them are accompanied by severe and acute pain, which occurs suddenly and subsequently leads to remission or is in a constant latent form with a moderate pain stimulus.

When you have a strained back muscle, the most common symptoms are soreness after a strain from heavy exercise or injury. Pain may occur spontaneously at night. The pain may also spread to the buttocks or thighs.

Experts recommend that you approach a multi-day fasting regime and, if necessary, use standard painkillers — analgin, paracetamol, ibuprofen and others. Physical therapy can be applied by warming or cooling the area of pain with gentle massage or exercises to prevent future damage.

Spondylosis or osteoarthritis of the spine is most often associated with the clinical picture of pain, stiffness and tenderness in the back, buttocks and thighs. As the disease progresses, limited mobility of the spine develops. Experts recommend warm compresses and the use of anti-inflammatory and painkillers — paracetamol, ibuprofen, metamizole and nimesulide.

Intervertebral disc herniation is also a disease that is particularly common among patients. This is caused by the disc rupturing and the pulp core sliding between the disc. The clinical picture is very typical. It begins suddenly with very severe pain that can shoot down your legs.

Typically, a herniated disc forms after lifting heavy objects, strenuous exercise, bending, sneezing, or persistent and deep coughing. Lying in bed relieves pain. Movement, straightening and bending the back or forward at the waist aggravates the condition.

Treatment of disc herniation

It is the subject of two specialties — neurology and neurosurgery. In case of complete prolapse of the pulp nucleus of the intervertebral discs, surgical correction of the defect must be performed. However. if there is only stretching of the cartilaginous rings, without visible pulp loss, then treatment can be performed using warming procedures, compresses, physical therapy, painkillers, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and peripheral vasodilators.

Spinal curvature and osteoporosis

They are the most common problems and causes of back pain. They usually develop against the background of obesity, postmenopausal syndrome, and excessive consumption of meat products due to calcium-rich milk components.

The clinical picture is accompanied by sudden pain when moving in the affected joints of the spine. This pain can last for months in a latent form with a very mild pain stimulus.

Experts recommend adapting to the diet and starting a healthy lifestyle without smoking, alcohol and excessive consumption of meat products and foods high in animal fat.

With a kidney infection, back pain also occurs. Most often it is felt on both sides, on the side or just on one side. Similar symptoms are also typical for kidney stones that travel down the urethra and into the bladder. The pain is sudden, accompanied by painful and burning urination, nausea, vomiting, and a temperature of up to 38.5 degrees. Timely consultation with a doctor and initiation of appropriate antibacterial therapy is recommended.

One of the most common causes of back pain that prompts a patient to see a doctor is spinal stenosis. In practice, this is a pathological narrowing of the spinal canal, leading to compression of the spinal cord, which, in turn, is accompanied by severe pain. The clinical picture corresponds to pain in the back, buttocks or thighs in a sitting or upright position of the body when moving.

The pain is relieved only in a standing position — in a straight or sitting position, but without any movement. The clinical picture may also correspond to a probable tumor that fills the spinal canal from the inside. Consultation with a neurosurgeon is then mandatory. Often, patients and doctors suspect a herniated disc condition, which in turn leads to a completely incorrect therapeutic course of action that aggravates the condition and increases their pain.

The cost of an orthopedic examination to identify the causes of back pain with subsequent treatment in Germany is 599 Euro
