Rhinoplasty in Germany

The nose is the one part of the body that one in four people in the world are unhappy with. That’s what the statistics say. It can be too long, snub-nosed, hunchbacked, hooked or even crooked — all of this used to be tolerated. However, today this problem can be solved very easily — rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a type of plastic surgery, the purpose of which is to change the shape and (or) size of the nose. Rhinoplasty Treatment in Germany is performed using the latest effective technologies.

WHEN MIGHT RHINOPLASTY BE NECESSARY?

First of all, the main indication for such surgery is your desire. If you want to change your appearance, you have every right to do so. The nose is the center of the face, something that in any case will not escape attention, and to correct its shape by cosmetic means is much more difficult than the shape of the eyes or lips. So, in what situations will rhinoplasty help?

  • Nose with a hump is one of the most popular and low-traumatic surgeries of this area.
  • Thick tip of the nose.
  • Saddle nose — the antipode of «humpback».
  • A crooked nose.
  • Too long or hooked nose.
  • Crooked nose.
  • Large nostrils.
  • Nasal breathing disorders — this is more about septoplasty.

Septoplasty – is surgery on the nasal septum. The difference between it and rhinoplasty is that it is performed more often to correct a medical condition, rather than just for beauty. Although very often these two surgeries are combined into one. Septoplasty may be necessary in the case of:

  • Difficulty breathing due to deviated nasal septum.
  • Snoring.
  • Consequences of nasal fracture.
  • Constant nasal congestion.

RHINOPLASTY OPTIONS

Rhinoplasty is performed in a variety of ways.

  • Septorhinoplasty — plastic surgery of the nasal septum.
  • Rhinoplasty of the nostrils — aims to improve the shape of the nostrils (nostrils that are too large or of different sizes).
  • Nose shape correction — allows you to cope with the hunchback, saddleback, alignment of the nose axis. During this surgery, the doctor works with both cartilage and bone structures.
  • Nasal tip plasty is one of the most complex options. This surgery allows you to get rid of snub nose, hooked nose, its deviation to the side and many other defects. The effect of the operation is amazing — the appearance changes very much. The main thing is to choose an experienced plastic surgeon.
  • Columella correction. The columella is the cartilaginous septum between the nostrils, more specifically the lower part of it. The columella can be too thin or too thick. The situation is corrected either by excision of excess tissue, or grafting a thin layer of cartilage.
  • Nasal contouring. This is getting rid of minor defects in the outline of the nose by injecting hyaluronic acid.
  • Augmentation rhinoplasty is the correction of a nasal defect by elevating the bridge of the nose.
  • Grafting. This is the transplantation of cartilage in the right amount to specific areas. This situation can occur at the initial application and, especially often after unsuccessful attempts of nose job in the past, as well as post-traumas or even serious congenital defects. Pieces of cartilage are taken from the patient himself (from the rib, ear lobe) to minimize the risk of rejection.
  • Reconstructive rhinoplasty — recovery from failed or inadequate surgical procedures in the past. May combine any of the above options.
  • Laser rhinoplasty. In this case, the surgeon uses a laser instead of a classic scalpel.
  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty. Here the nose is reshaped with the help of special gels — fillers.

NOSE JOB — TECHNIQUES

Today, plastic surgeons use two techniques: open and closed rhinoplasty. The difference lies in the places where the incisions are made.

OPEN RHINOPLASTY

In this case, the incision is made in the area of the columella (a fold of skin separating the nostrils). This technique is usually chosen if the surgical intervention is quite extensive.

The advantage of the technique is that it allows you to perform complex surgical manipulations, including a complete reconstruction of the nose.

Minus — for a while there is a small scar, which then is almost invisible. Also after this operation there is a strong swelling, which will go away after a few days.

CLOSED RHINOPLASTY

The incision is made inside the nostrils, after which the nasal skin is separated from the bone and cartilage. After all the necessary manipulations are performed, the skin is sutured.

The pros are relatively little swelling after surgery, and the absence of any external scarring.

Minuses — difficulty (and sometimes impossibility) to perform some surgical manipulations.

RHINOPLASTY — THE COURSE OF SURGERY

Before the surgery itself, it is necessary to undergo preparation. Since this is a surgical intervention, you will need to take a number of tests to make sure that there are no contraindications to the operation. In addition, you can evaluate the expected result of the operation on your own face. With the help of a computer, on your photo, the doctor will model the image, and you will see what result he expects to get. You will be able to discuss it together and adjust it according to your wishes.

Contraindications to rhinoplasty:

  • Diabetes mellitus.
  • Blood diseases (poor coagulation).
  • Age under 18 years (to be specified individually, exceptions are possible — for example, post-traumatic deformities of the nose).
  • Inflammatory diseases of the skin of the face.
  • Acute infectious processes.
  • Oncology.

The standard examination before surgery includes laboratory tests (general blood count, urine, blood group and Rh factor, coagulogram, etc.), do an electrocardiogram and get the opinion of specialists (ENT, therapist, anesthesiologist).

OPERATION PROCESS

The tactics of surgery depends on the technique chosen by the surgeon — open or closed. The choice of anesthesia also depends on the proposed scope of intervention. Full rhinoplasty, when all structures of the nose are affected (bone, cartilage, soft tissue), is performed under general anesthesia. Partial rhinoplasty involves only some structures and rarely affects bone tissue. This reduces the time of surgery and allows it to be performed under local anesthesia. Surgery time is individualized, but usually does not exceed 2 hours. The average hospital stay is 3 days, after which the patient is explained the rehabilitation process and released home.

POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD

After surgery, there is always swelling in the incision area and near the eyes — this is normal.

Minor pain, decreased skin sensitivity at the surgical site, and nasal congestion may occur. These symptoms usually disappear by the fourteenth day.

On day 10-14, a special tight bow bandage is applied to the nose area. This is necessary to ensure that all the corrected changes are maintained. The bruises under the eyes will remain for approximately the same length of time and will disappear without a trace.

A slight swelling of the nose can sometimes persist for up to 3 months, but it is so slight that it is not noticeable to others. After 2 weeks, the face will look quite acceptable.

Fully all recovery processes after rhinoplasty will be completed in 6-8 months (in the most severe cases — up to a year). Therefore, doctors recommend evaluating the result not earlier than this time.

The recovery process depends on two factors — the extent of the surgery and the body’s ability to recover. During the first three days, it is useful to apply cold compresses to the nose and eye area to reduce swelling and discomfort. Sometimes the doctor may prescribe painkillers. For about two weeks, it is recommended to sleep with your head elevated (e.g. on several pillows) — this also helps to reduce swelling and early recovery. For 6 weeks, avoid the sun, hot baths and saunas are contraindicated. In the first month it is worth limiting physical activity, especially associated with bending over. Until 8 weeks it is also recommended to avoid wearing glasses with heavy frames — it is better to replace them with contact lenses. Approximately 2 weeks after surgery, the patient is free to go to work.

But, it should be noted that the success of rhinoplasty depends on the surgeon’s experience and qualifications. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to apply only to a specialist with a high rating in performing this operation. How to find such a person? Our head Maxim Rykovhas great knowledge in solving this issue.
